June 14th, 2008 - Serbian Association for Help and Support Of Individuals With Cystic Fibrosis

About the Event

On June 14th 2008, a group of pharmaceutical industry professionals and medical doctors from Switzerland organized a fund rising garden party in favor of Serbian Association for Help and Support Of Individuals With Cystic Fibrosis. It is estimated that there are about 350 children with cystic fibrosis in Serbia. Life expectancy of these children is short in comparison to the children in developed countries, due to the insufficient health care coverage. Recently established Serbian Association for Help and Support Of Individuals With Cystic Fibrosis aims to increase the awareness of the disease, to mobilize society to provide resources needed for the treatment of children and to share knowledge and provide support to parents and children with cystic fibrosis in Serbia.

The event was great success with more than 40 participants. The weather was cooperative, giving the opportunity to grill volunteers to demonstrate their skills. Carefully selected and donated vines enhanced the social interactions. New friendships were formed and some old ones were revived. Serbian folk and pop music resonated with multinational guests who were listening, dancing and singing.

3215 SFR were collected at the event and the sum is expected to increase soon with the Internet sales of the items that were kindly donated by party guests.

Donors of the event plan to continue supporting the Serbian Association Of Parents And Children With Cystic Fibrosis not only with financial contributions but also with translating educational materials and supporting lobbing and fund rising initiatives in Serbia and internationally.
